Curriculum EYFS Summary

Here at Puddleducks all practitioners have the highest expectations of what children can achieve and therefore, the quality of teaching while delivering the early years foundation stage is of the highest quality. We share the same principle that every child deserves the best possible start in life and support that enables them to fulfil their potential. The Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure children learn and develop and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s school readiness. In addition it promotes a broad range of skills and knowledge that provide children with the foundation for excellent progress through school and life.

The EYFS covers the seven areas of learning and development that shapes activities and experiences within the educational programme. Areas of learning include:-

Prime areas:

Communication
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development.

Specific areas:

Literacy
Math
Understanding of the world
Expressive art and design

The EYFS details children’s next steps in learning and is used by practitioners as guidance. It is also used as a tool for assessments and to measure progress working closely with parents and/or carers).
